The day before Musk's email, he had a direct meeting with Tinucci. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that her resistance to further layoffs was the main reason behind Musk's decision to ax the entire team.

This incident was part of a broader strategy where Musk announced mass layoffs across Tesla, aiming to cut more than 10% of the workforce. Before these cuts, Tesla employed over 140,000 people.
